Rebellion of 1916

"In 1916 a small band of armed insurrectionists declared Ireland a Republic. This event is known as the Easter Rising, a violent battle which resulted in many deaths and the destruction of many parts of Dublin."

We went on a walking tour through Dublin with guide Loran Collins and it was helpful in putting Ireland's relationship with England into perspective. Lorcan and Conor Kostick co-wrote a book about the uprising and if you are interested can be found at the above link.

The "Post" (our Post Office) was an integral scene in the Rebellion
