Blarney Castle

The grounds of the castle were beautiful - and walking distance from our hotel!

The Blarney Castle is a medieval stronghold in Blarney, near Cork, that was built almost 600 years ago by Cormac MacCarthy who was one of Ireland's great chieftans.
Vertical openings are near the stairwells - which were very narrow and winded up to the top.

The people that lived here must have been of a small build - pathways were narrow and we had to bend over to get through the doors.

Finally, the top of the castle - after climbing 100 stairs!

Yours truly kissing the Blarney Stone -
is supposed to give you the gift of eloquence, so I guess
                                                      we will see about that!

The Blarney House not far from the castle.
